Begin your African safari adventure with a descent into the scenic Ngorongoro Crater, formed from the caldera of a former volcano. This massive, self-contained ecosystem is teeming with diverse wildlife, and is famously known for having one of the highest concentrations of game in all of Africa. Colloquially known as the home of elephants and baobabs, this tour will also take you to Tarangire National Park. This park is second only to the Ngorongoro Crater in its concentration of game, but is a less crowded, hidden gem among safari parks, possessing a wild, unkempt beauty. The best chance to see herds of wild elephants is here at Tarangire. Experience the excitement of wildlife up-close in two of the most spectacular national game parks in Tanzania.

Day 2. Arusha - Tarangire National Park
Wake up for an authentic Tanzanian breakfast and depart shortly after to Tarangire National Park. The park runs along the Tarangire River and is made up of low-lying hills, dotted with acacia and baobab trees. In the dry season, this park is bustling with life when many of the migratory wildlife species are drawn to the permanent waters and swamps of the Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and oryx gather to stay the dry season in Tarangire until the onset of the rain when they will migrate to better grazing areas. The park is also home to rare species of animals including the greater kudu, the fringed-eared oryx, and the ashy starling. After a spectacular game drive, the day ends with a drive to the Panorama Campsite through the small town called Mto wa Mbu. Located on the Great Rift Valley wall, this camp has a beautifully scenic view of Lake Manyara, the perfect backdrop for dinner, and a great view to wake up to.
Day 3. Panorama Camp - Ngorongoro Crater.
The day starts with a short drive to the Ngorongoro Gate. Passing through the gate, the tour begins with a drive down the crater rim to descend over 600 meters into the crater to view its vast wildlife. Supported by a year-round supply of water and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a varied array of animals which include herds of wildebeest, zebras, baboons, buffalo, elands, warthogs, hippos and giant African elephants. A unique draw of this picturesque park is its dense population of hyenas, jackals, and cheetahs roaming around, as well as the elusive leopard, which typically require a highly-trained eye to spot. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other aquatic birds can be seen at Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater. After the game drive and picnic lunch, drive back to Arusha in time for dinner at Christina House, where you will also spend your last night.
*Tipping is recommended at about $20 for the driver, and $15 for the chef per day, payable at the end of the safari.
