Day 1. From Kilimanjaro International Airport to Christina House
Optional airport pickup is included. Contact Green Paw Adventures to coordinate your specific travel plans prior to your trip.
Day 2. Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park
Enjoy a traditional Tanzanian breakfast at Christina House before departing for Lake Manyara National Park. Famous for its tree climbing lions, Lake Manyara is home to some of Tanzania's most dramatically located wildlife areas, including a shallow but vast soda-lake at the western foot of the Great Rift Valley. A midday picnic lunch will be provided, as well as dinner and an overnight stay at Panorama Camp. Located on the upper part of the Great Rift Valley, Panorama Camp affords gorgeous views of Lake Manyara National Park and the small town of Mto wa Mbu in the distance.
Day 3. Panorama camp - Ngorongoro Crater
The day starts with a short drive to the Ngorongoro Gate, via the small town of Karatu. Passing through the gate, the tour begins with a drive down the crater rim to descend over 600 meters into the crater to view its vast wildlife. Supported by a year-round supply of water and fodder, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area supports a varied array of animals which include herds of wildebeest, zebras, baboons, buffalo, elands, warthogs, hippos, giant African elephants, and a chance to see the rare African black rhino. A unique draw of this picturesque park is its dense population of hyenas, jackals, and cheetahs roaming around, as well as the elusive leopard, which typically require a highly-trained eye to spot. A large number of flamingos, hippos, and other aquatic birds can be seen at Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner of the crater. After the game drive and picnic lunch, drive back to Arusha in time for dinner at Christina House, where you will also spend your last night.
Day 4. Panorama – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, the day will begin with a short drive to Tarangire National Park. The park runs along the Tarangire River and is made up of low-lying hills, dotted with acacia and baobab trees. In the dry season, this park is bustling with life when many of the migratory wildlife species are drawn to the permanent waters and swamps of the Tarangire River. Huge herds of wildebeest, zebras, elephants, elands and oryx gather to stay the dry season in Tarangire until the onset of the rain when they will migrate to better grazing areas. The park is also home to rare species of animals including the greater kudu, the fringed-eared oryx, and the ashy starling. After lunch and a spectacular evening game drive, the day ends with a drive back to Christina Lodge for the night.
*Tipping is recommended for the driver guide around $20 per day and $15 for the chef per day.
